Building/structure dates:
1904 initial construction
Significance: Band Barracks has undergone only superficial alteration, retaining a strong sense of original interior spaces and finish. Exterior remains virtually intact. Completed March 31, 1904, from QMGO Plan No. 64. Original cost: $13,314. Dimensions: 68' x 27'. Two and one-half story and basement frame construction on sandstone and brick foundation. Cross gabled roof has original slate shingles. Lapped cedar siding. Two-over-two light, double-hung sash with "Palladian" windows in attic gables, off-center entrance has double panelled doors with transom. Front porch with pipe railing has Tuscan columns. Interior with side hall retains much of its original plan. Cast iron columns on first floor support a longitudinal beam. 50 percent of embossed metal ceilings remain exposed. Composition floor tiles, one room on second floor soundproofed with acoustical tiles.
