Significance: 812 South Ann Street, Baltimore, Maryland was built by Robert Long in 1765. The house is typical of the architecture found in the southeast Pennsylvania region. It is unusual to find one this far south in the Tidewater area. It is the only known one still standing in Baltimore with a glazed header facade. It is also the only one known to have had a pent roof across the facade, which makes it unique for the area. On the basis of dates of construction, which at this time are documented, it is the second oldest house still standing in the city. 812 South Ann Street was purchased by the Society for the Preservation of Federal Hill, Montgomery Street, and Fell's Point in October of 1973. The Society proposes to restore the building to its original appearance for community use.
