Building/structure dates: 1926 initial construction
Significance: Harrison Crandall homesteaded at the north end of Jenny Lake, near the present Jenny Lake Lodge in 1924. In order to provide working space for his activities as a painter and photographer, Crandall constructed a studio cabin next to his homestead cabin from 1925 to 1926. In 1931, due to the cold, hard winters, Crandall sold his homestead to the Snake River Land Company and moved to Idaho. However, the Park Service granted him a twenty year franchise and permission to move the studio down to Jenny Lake. Crandall lived behind the studio in tents every summer until the 1950's when he constructed an addition containing a bedroom and grocery store on the east end of the original building. In 1958, Crandall sold his concession rights to the Grand Teton Lodge Company who maintained the name "Crandall Studio" for five years before changing it to Jenny Lake Store in 1963.
