Significance: This building was built prior to July of 1929 as a homestead cabin on the Lee Mangus Homestead near Cottonwood Creek, south of Jenny Lake. It was obtained by the National Park Service from the Snake River Land Company in 1929 or early 1930 and moved to its present site in the summer of 1930. It was used as the Jenny Lake Museum and Visitor Center for over two decades. As a need for more space arose, a room on the east end of the building was added in 1937, probably by Civilian Conservation Corps labor. It became the Jenny Lake Ranger Station when the old ranger station was moved to the Lupine Meadows housing area in the 1950's.
