Building/structure dates: 1898 initial construction
Significance: The L.F. Fales Machine Company was founded in 1894, and in 1898 this one and two-story wood frame complex was begun at the corner of East and Elm Streets. The company manufactured and repaired special machinery and multiple needle sewing machines of the type used in heavy manufacturing. This type of machine was invented by L.F. Fale's father, Charles Fales.
