1. VIEW LOOKING NORTHEAST AT FORMER MILL COMMUNITY BUILDING LOCATED ON JOHNSON ST. THIS STRUCTURE WAS BUILT BY INTERNATIONAL COTTON MILLS c. 1917 AND PROVIDED A SWIMMING POOL, BOWLING ALLEY, MEETING ROOMS, COMBINATION AUDITORIUM/GYMNASIUM, AND OTHER SERVICES FOR THE SURROUNDING MILL VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD. THE COMMUNITY BUILDING WAS DESIGNED BY LOCKWOOD GREENE ENGINEERS, AND CONSTRUCTED OF HOLLOW TILE BLOCKS COVERED WITH STUCCO.
