Significance: The most pronounced change in the ammunition depot was during the interwar years was the expansion of magazines into two new areas during two distinct periods: 1927 and 1931-1938. One of the new areas, the hilltops to the south of the golf course, was where Building A139 was built during the 1927 magazine expansion period (along with A140 and A141). Building A139 is a contributing element of the Mare Island Historic District having good historical integrity with approximately 80% of the original building existing.
