Significance: Building 680 is a contributing element of the Mare Island Historic District. Building 680 is significant historically and architecturally. Historically, this 1940 building was the heart of the shipbuilding and repair works at Mare Island. Architecturally, it represents the last and the grandest expression of the curtain wall industrial design that dominated work at Mare Island from 1918 through the end of World War II.
