Significance: Building H70 is a contributing element of the Mare Island Historic District. It is significant historically for its association with the major upgrade of the Mare Island Naval Hospital during the 1920s and for the important role it and the other hospital buildings played during World War II. Architecturally, the building illustrates the Mission Revival treatment applied to all of the hospital additions from the 1920s and 1930s.
