Significance: Building A45 is a contributing element of the Mare Island Historic District. Building A45, an 1860 brick residence, is highly significant within the context of Mare Island and military architecture in California. It is the oldest residential building and among the oldest buildings of any type at Mare Island. Although several additions were built over the years, the core brick structure is intact and is a very important example of Greek Revival-influenced vernacular design in California.
