Significance: This ranch house is one of the few remaining adobe structures of the nineteenth century in the San Diego area. It is in a relatively changed valley which once supported extensive cattle and citrus growing operations. / The Johnson-Taylor Adobe is a rare example of an adobe ranch house constructed for a great nineteenth century Southern California rancho. Built sometime before 1883, it became the center of large scale cattle and fruit growing operations. It later became the object of popular excursions into the country from San Diego. It is now included in plans for a San Diego park.
