Significance: The sewage pumping station, designed by the Quartermaster General's Office, is both architecturally significant and an essential element of base operations. The base sewage facilities at this location are connected below the ground surface to an extensive system of pipes that once collected waste water from the main base areas and the permanent housing. The building is significant as an example of the application of an important architectural trend (Spanish Colonial Revival) adapted to reflect California's mission heritage in a dramatic departure from traditional military architecture.
