Significance: Ten of these electric switch stations and transformer vaults were constructed during the initial phase of base build up and were essential components to base operations. Four were added to the base during World War II, when the base population expanded twenty-fold. The 1930s buildings are significant as an example of the application of an important architectural trend (Spanish Colonial Revival) adapted to reflect California's mission heritage in a dramatic departure from traditional military architecture.
