Building/structure dates: 1872 initial construction
Building/structure dates: 1900 subsequent work
Significance: This building, a very good example of nineteenth-century military architecture, solves in a deft way the problem of coupling two different functions into a compact structure, by placing the guard house in front of the larger shed-like engine room.
