Notes
Survey number HABS CO-139
Building/structure dates:
1908 initial construction
Significance: One of the few commercial buildings erected during St. Elmo's final boom of 1908-1917. Hellman's saloon and exchange building shows adherence to the traditions of commercial design in mining camps, with a few differences. The false notching and expansive features of the facade are not found elsewhere in the town, where emphasis is on the vertical and attenuated facade.
