Significance: Structure L is a wooden valve box. It is located atop a broad, linear ridge trending from west to east. The ridge forms the south edge of Horse Thief Draw. The structure is located approximately 1.25 miles northwest of Superior near the west edge of the old Superior townsite. The valve box consists of a square wood lined pit 2 feet 5 inches on a side and 3 feet 11 inches deep to fill. The wood lining consists of vertically standing milled lumber boards. The boards are secured at the top by a frame of horizontal boards running along the interior edges. Along the east and west sides of the valve box are two additional horizontal milled lumber boards running north to south. The bottom of the valve box contains considerable amounts of sediments making the original depths indeterminable.
