Significance: The Cheyenne Airport played a vital role as a major component of the first transcontinental air mail and passenger route from the 1920s through World War II. A portion of the airport (the United Airlines Terminal Building, the United Airlines Hangar, and a memorial fountain) is designated as a National Register District. Three other buildings within the airport complex are considered eligible to the National Register, two of which may be included in an expanded National Register District in the future.
