Unprocessed field note material exists for this structure (FN-32).
Significance: The building was erected in the 1830's and is important as a landmark in the immediate vicinity of the capture of John Brown in 1859. In present day Harpers Ferry, the building lends considerably to the character of the town and defines its eastern limits.
