Survey number HABS WA-150-T
Building/structure dates: 1905 initial construction
Significance: Of three early service buildings on the post, this one remains closest to its original configuration. Converted to a Quartermaster Corps barracks in 1916, an ordnance storehouse in 1920, and offices ca. 1942. Completed March 21, 1905, from QMGO Plan No. 59-P. Original cost: $5,001. One and one-half story frame structure on sandstone and brick foundation. Dimensions: 74' x 30'. Gabled roof has slate shingles, three corbelled chimneys and one ventilator. Exposed rafter ends are scroll-cut. Interior wood finish, including tongue-in-groove wall panelling remains in place. Six-over-six light, double-hung windows. One original loading door remains intact. Converted to office use ca. 1942. One loading door converted to main entrance and loading dock removed on east elevation. Original brick and wood flooring covered with asphalt tile. Partial basement excavated after completion, and south chimney installed. Forced air furnace replaces original stove heating.
