Building/structure dates:
1820 initial construction
Significance: Located on the old Scottsville Turnpike midway between the Shenandoah Valley and the James River Canal, Crossroads Tavern, circa 1820, once served as a stopping point for travelers bound for Richmond. The later building of the railroad caused reduction in canal traffic and the subsequent abandonment of the Tavern's original use.
