Survey number HABS VA-897
Significance: Main Street developed as the residential and commercial focal point of the town of Lexington, founded in 1778. Most structures on the street extant today were constructed after the devastating Great Fire of 1796. They represent a cohesive grouping of buildings from the early to mid 19th century.
