Significance: General Wayne was a Revolutionary War hero who was born in nearby Paoli. He was killed in 1796 in Erie, Pennsylvania, during a battle with the Native Americans. He lay buried there until 1809, when his family had his bones removed to St. David's Church, for re-internment. The present grave was probably designed by William Strickland.
