Significance: The A Canal Bridge #35B002 derives its primary significance as an intact example of a continuous concrete, multi-span, slab/beam/girder-type bridge, reflecting the engineering innovation of Moment Distribution Theory as introduced by Professor Hardy Cross in the late 1920s. The bridge is a variant of the standard design, as employed by local engineer, John C. Cleghorn.
