Building/structure dates: 1927 initial construction
Building/structure dates: 1955 subsequent work
Significance: Building 51 is an original Wright Field structure. Until recently, the southern portion contained the same foundry located there since the 1920s. The northern section of the building hosted laboratories which possessed unique equipment and contributed to advances in aerospace materials technology after World War II.
