Significance: The building contributes to a streetscape in the Near East Side Historic District, a residential area which developed primarily between 1890 and 1930. Madison Avenue between S. 21st Street on the west and S. 20th Street on the east contains deteriorated houses dating from the 1890s and early 1900s. Most are vernacular interpretations of the Queen Anne.
