Survey number HABS OH-692-B
Significance: Office of the Athens Gas Light and Electric Company from 1878 to 1903, then taken over by the Athens Lumber Company. The Gas Light and Electric Company was one of the earliest enterprises in the industrial area that developed southwest of the Athens Railroad Station in the mid-nineteenth century. The structure was alter used by the Athens Lumber Company which supplied much of the millwork when Ohio University was built.
