Significance: The building, which still serves in its original capacity, is an intact and integral element of the quarters area developed at the north end of the arsenal during the 19th century to house the installation's high ranking officers. Designed by the arsenal's commander nearly a decade before it was constructed, the building reflects the appearance of the nearby commandant's quarters.
