Significance: The barn at Melrose is typical of wood frame agricultural buildings built throughout the rural South in the early 20th century. Approximately 20' x 24' in plan, it sits on a concrete slab, with 4" square corner posts and 2" x 4" studs at 4 feet on center. The exterior walls are sheathed in vertical wood board-and-batten siding and the building has a metal standing seam gable roof. A shed is attached to the side and rear of the barn.
