Significance: This duplex is a contributing and distinct property type in the Museum Hill historic district which reflects the attempts by owners in the prestigious areas to create investment properties. Museum Hill is a residential area of St. Joseph, Missouri, that has architecturally significant buildings and historically relates to early growth of the city by being home to many of the important local residents. The owner and builder of this duplex, John De Clue, lived next door and was an important builder in St. Joseph.
