Building/structure dates: 1887 initial construction
Significance: One of the earliest buildings at the Duluth and Iron Range Rail Road Company rail yard near Two Harbors, the Foundry was vital for maintaining the line's rolling stock. Foundry workers were charged with creating many of the railroad's replacement parts. For a time, Foundry staff were also responsible for building many of the railroad's ore cars.
