Building/structure dates: 1894 initial construction
Significance: Fort Castle, a grouping of three canons and a limestone wall facing Minnehaha Creek, was added to the Soldiers' Home Campus during site improvements made under the landscape architect, Captain A.J. Merritt in 1894-95. The canons, which are mounted on concrete, were manufactured in Boston and obtained by the Home through a Minnesota congressman.
