Notes
Survey number HABS MD-1109-C
Building/structure dates: 1919 initial construction
Significance: The addition was Ament's first step towards creating a more monumental and formal style of campus architecture. It linked Main to other campus buildings and radically altered the character of the campus grounds. The asymmetrical and eclectic architectural features of the addition mimicked Main's facade. Main was re-stuccoed at the time of the addition's construction so that the buildings would appear more like one single structure. The stucco siding and decorative wood trim give the building the character of an English manor house, a popular architectural form for American country estates.
