Significance: The Lock Tender's House at Lock 75, the last lift lock and house along the canal, is one of three such log houses located at the upper end of the canal. It serves as an example of the type and quality of the auxiliary structures built during the last years of construction on the canal. This small house provided living quarters for the lock tender employee and his family and was located adjacent to the lock. The canal had reached Cumberland by 1850.
