Significance: Built in 1682 for Solomon Wright, the Queen Anne's County tax collector, a surveyor, a commissioner, a judge, and a member of the Maryland Assembly, Walnut Grove survived virtually intact until 1929 when the walnut paneling and the shell cupboard of the great room were sold, though similar paneling at the chimney breast of the office remains. The winder stairway has been replaced with a straight run stairway, and a gambrel roofed wing was constructed to the south circa 1900. Shingles cover the log walls of the house, with its brick end laid in Flemish bond with regularly spaced glazed headers.
