Building/structure dates: 1875 initial construction
Building/structure dates: 1888 subsequent work
Significance: The building was originally constructed ca. 1875 as a simple trolley barn for the Madison Street Railway Company, and was purchased by the Fair Play Fire Engine and Hose Company in 1888 for use as the third and present home of Indiana's oldest volunteer fire company. The three-and-one-half story bell tower was added during the 1888 rehabilitation for the fire company, and topped by the weathervane "Little Jimmy," the company's trademark.
