Notes
Survey number HABS IN-134
Significance: The East Main Street Block presents a nice mix of 19th century commercial architecture. No. 217-19, erected 1871-72, is styled in the Second Empire manner. Much of the detailed cast-iron facades of Nos. 227 and 229, erected 1880-81, has been retained, and are excellent examples of the type of streetfronts which appeared in most American towns during this period.
