Significance: The structure embodies the distinctive characteristics of late-nineteenth century industrial architecture and also for its association with the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad, for which Quincy served as the southern terminus and which contributed to the city's status as an important transportation hub and commercial/industrial center from 1825 to 1910.
