Significance: In 1986 the house was acquired by the Illinois to be used as a visitor's center and to provide office space for the Illinois and Michigan Canal Heritage Corridor. Located approximately 25 miles southwest of Chicago, the house borders the western limits of Lockport. Perched on a bluff at the edge of town, the house is separated from the business district of Lockport by the Des Plaines River Valley...
