Significance: Facility 222, dating from 1918, is among the oldest extant buildings in the Marine Reservation, after the original barracks (Facility 221) and the Officers' Quarters (Facilities 201-203). This building, one of the earliest extant multi-use recreational buildings at Pearl Harbor, is associated with both the history of the Marine Reservation and with the history of the Navy providing recreational facilities. The building contributes to the Marine Barracks zone, which forms a distinct and historically significant grouping at the Pearl Harbor Naval Base that was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1964.
