Significance: This building is a distinctive type and period of construction, designed as a facility to test plane engines. It is associated with the history of Ford Island as a Naval Air Station, from the end of World War II and through the Korean War until the aviation function ceased in 1962. It was the last major aviation-related building constructed on Ford Island. This building may also have served to test the new jet engine designs that were being developed after WWII.
