Significance: In local history, it is significant in its association with people important in the development of the community. Dr. Cantell, a medical doctor and a native of Cleveland, resided in the house at the turn-of-the-century before relocating to Dahlonega around 1912. The Kenimers and Mauneys are significant for their contributions to the business community as owners of general mercantile stores from the late nineteenth-century into the present time. In architecture, the house expresses an evolution of styles and reflects the continued use and function of the property. As a single family residence, it was originally a plain style structure and was enlarged in the 1920's and 1930's using a Craftsman inspired style of that period. In landscape architecture, it's significance is in the siting of the structure. Located on the highest elevation of the site, the structure receives a commanding view from travelers heading north from the square on U.S. Highway 129.
