Significance: Building 142 is a contributing property in the Washington Navy Yard National Historic Landmark. The Washington Navy Yard once served as the center for naval ordnance research and production and is significant for its role in the development of the U.S. Navy. The building was used to research and develop new technological applications of radio, an important military tool, during the twentieth century.
