Significance: 517 Eleventh Street, NW, constructed around 1875 by plumber Ed. J. Hannan, is an example of 19th century vernacular buildings that combined residential and commercial use. Although the facade of the building has been significantly altered, its basic formal typology remains. The building contributes to the Pennsylvania Avenue National Historic Site.
