Notes
Survey number HABS CO-169
Building/structure dates: 1885 initial construction
Significance: This large rental duplex depicts the square notching method which came into use abourt1885 in St. Elmo. The lack of orientation of the building to the streets as platted underscores the casual attitude of speculative builders toward the townsite company's plat, especially after slow decline began about 1885. Such duplexes points to the money to be made by speculative builders in booming mining camps.
