Building/structure dates:

Significance: Located 1 mile west of the Purgatore River in Pinon Canyon, the homestead represents settlement of on of the last regions in Colorado to be homesteaded. Marguerite Arnet and her children, Adam, John, and Mary, immigrated from Eppingen, Germany in the 1890s and lived in Ionia, Michigan before moving to Colorado after the turn of the century. Their homestead, founded in May of 1909, expanded from a 2-room residence, dugout cellar, and hen house to a large-scale cattle ranch which incorporated a wide variety of vernacular building types and construction technologies.
