Significance: In 1871 William A. Hamill, a silver mine investor, and his family moved into the white frame gothic style house built by his brother-in-law Joseph Watson. Hamill's wealth and influence grew tremendously during the 1870s, and in 1879 he undertook a lavish remodeling and enlarging of his house. He also purchased sufficient land on the west end of his house lot to construct in 1880 a 2 1/2 story granite office building and a large 2 story stable and carriage house...
