Significance: Building A43 is a contributing element of the Mare Island Historic District. It is important as an element of a small tract of historic homes that was built on a bluff overlooking the Ammunition Depot. This group of homes collectively reflects a broad range of vernacular designs from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Building A43 is the largest of this group, having served as the home of the commander of the Ammunition Depot.
