Significance: The first Alaskan lighthouse equipped with a radio beacon, it retains the highest degree of integrity of all Alaskan lighthouses. Its construction at the northern outlet of the Inside Passage shipping lane marked a major shift in commercial development from the southeast region to the south-central region of the future state of Alaksa.
