Sebastian Munster's 1545 edition of Ptolemy's Geography. Accompanying the Ptolemaic maps are contemporary images based on recent discoveries in the new world. Many notable firsts appear in this early atlas including early views of North and South America and an early representation of Japan on the world map. Along with the ambitious Cosmographia, this atlas is considered one of Munster's most important contributions to cartography.
